Why the free DVLA check does not show the VIN
The gov.uk vehicle enquiry is useful for tax and MOT status, but it does not show the VIN. The VIN is printed on the V5C logbook and on the car itself. If you do not have either to hand, our paid lookup fills that gap.

Who uses a reg to VIN lookup
Owners ordering the right parts, buyers matching a car to its paperwork, insurers and fleet managers tidying up records. We provide vehicle data only, never keeper details.
Buying a used car? Our UK VIN check guide explains how to match the VIN to the car and the V5C.
Responsible use
This service is for lawful purposes such as parts, servicing, insurance and pre-purchase checks. We refuse requests that look like misuse.
